Interim Mission Policy based on Our Calling
Worship
The Church exists to increase awareness of God's presence and to celebrate God's love. So
• We will pray regularly
• We will facilitate worship which is relevant
• We will look and listen for God each day
Here in MEMC we value worship leading and local preaching in the circuit and so we will encourage members to recognise the call of God into local preaching and worship leading. We will offer continued support and training to those engaged in leading worship across the circuit.
Learning and Caring
The Church exists to help people to grow and learn as Christians, through mutual support and care. So
• We will seek to learn more of God and God’s world
• We will practise friendship and care for others and for ourselves
• We will honour creation and tend the environment
• We will practise hospitality and generosity
Here in MEMC we will support the development of strategies for learning, caring & discipleship development across the circuit through the current Learning & Development group.
Service
The Church exists to be a good neighbour to people in need and to challenge injustice. So
• We will be good neighbours to those in need
• We will challenge injustice
• We will seek the common good
Here in MEMC we will support projects and initiatives across the circuit concerned with being a good neighbour and challenging injustice (eg MAP, Food banks)
Evangelism
The Church exists to make more followers of Jesus Christ. So
• We will witness to the love of God in Jesus
• We will speak of our faith to others
Here in MEMC we will seek out and create opportunities for discipleship development and evangelism across the circuit, including, but not limited to pathways for small group work, developing confidence in speaking of faith and actively creative initiatives for evangelism.
This page should be seen as a starting point. Over the next two years, the CLT of MEMC will be working with our church members to develop a more detailed strategy.
